A new weirdo futuristic horror science fiction black comedy novel... coming soon. Written by Holland Graham with audio book performed by Adam Edwards
Logline:
In 2043, struggling with severe postpartum depression, Pam Smith undergoes an experimental procedure that promises to create her “best self,” but things go awry as Pam begins to mutate into something more…botanical.
Synopisis:
In 2043, Pam and Mark's marriage is strained by postpartum struggles and alcoholism, compounded by financial tensions in climate-ravaged Texas. A family trip to Minnesota triggers Pam's full mental breakdown, leading her to a dubious online connection with Dr. Potter, who promises transformative solutions that will allow Pam to scientifically achieve her "best self."
Upon returning home, tragedy strikes in the form of a car accident which leaves Pam blind. Mark pressures her towards Potter's illegal human transformation process which they've been told will bring back her sight and their way of life. Pam eventually concedes and is smuggled away by Bermuda, another victim of Potter's schemes, who now works for Potter's U++ organization and the two quickly form a connection. Both women undergo Potter's transmogrification procedure, but are left penniless in the pacific northwest. Bermuda helps Pam travel back to her home in Texas, as they fall for one another and their bodies slowly mutate into their supposed "best selves."
After returning to her husband and child in Texas, Pam's body shows signs that she's changing into a plant-like creature rather than any sort of improved human being. This, coupled with the fallout from her affair with Bermuda, leads Mark to exploit Pam's misfortune by producing a reality show that saves the family financially, but leaves their minds reeling in disarray and death.
